The municipality has a population of 1,522 (30 June 2015) and covers an area of 1,223.01 square kilometres (472.21 sq mi) of which 1,084.84 km (418.86 sq mi) is water. The population density is 11.02 inhabitants per square kilometre (28.5/sq mi).
