Finland's former centre-right prime minister, Jyrki Katainen, has stepped down to seek a big international job.

Katainen said the two issues are some of the reasons why the president of the United States is taking unilateral action.

The EU is not siding with any party or any country, the only thing we are siding with is rules-based trade, said Katainen.

In Brussels, European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen said the EU has told the U.S. that tariffs were a bad idea.He said the U.S. lost thousands of jobs when it ordered tariffs on steel imported from Europe in the 2000s.
