新闻主播或新闻报导员通常指的是在电视台的新闻频道、电台或互联网等电子媒体上，每节数分钟、半小时以至一小时新闻报道的主持人，不同国家对主播的定义或身份阶级有所分别。

源于美国以至西方的主播，较重视其个人风格，主播有时会参与撰写新闻稿，遇上突发新闻例如要现场直播灾难、示威游行、庆典时，要自己即席旁述画面，及与身在现场采访的记者通话，并即时总结重要人士于现场直播期间的发言。主播犹如节目的主持人，事前要做不少准备功夫。当遇到重大新闻时，甚至会亲自外出采访。

主播亦会访问嘉宾，包括政府官员、议员甚至总统等重要人士，讨论观众感兴趣的时事话题。在1990年代之后，台湾媒体开放、香港兴起24小时收费新闻频道，都使用美式的播报方式。

A news presenter – also known as a newsreader, newscaster (short for "news broadcaster"), anchorman or anchorwoman, news anchor or simply an anchor – is a person who presents news during a news program on television, on the radio or on the Internet. They may also be a working journalist, assisting in the collection of news material and may, in addition, provide commentary during the program. News presenters most often work from a television studio or radio studio, but may also present the news from remote locations in the field related to a particular major news event.
