Oulainen is a town and a municipality of Finland, founded in 1865. It received township rights in 1977.
It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 7,687
(30 June 2015) and covers an area of 597.54 square kilometres (230.71sqmi) of
which 10.01km (3.86sqmi)
is water. The population density is
13.08 inhabitants per square kilometre (33.9/sqmi).
