孟宗竹（学名：Phyllostachys e****s，别名：毛竹、江南竹、猫头竹、貌儿竹、貌头竹、茅茹竹），是广泛生长于中国南方山区的经济作物，是属于禾本科竹子的一种。

圆筒形秆散生高大，秆环不隆起，秆上部每节有二分枝；披针形叶子，叶鞘上部略有细毛。根系集中稠密，竹秆生长快（高度可达28米），生长量大。

会分泌植物碱、类黄素抑制其它植物生长。

Phyllostachys e****s, moso bamboo, or tortoise-shell bamboo, or mao zhu (Chinese:毛竹; pinyin:máozhú), (Japanese モウソウチク（孟宗竹）) is a temperate species of giant timber bamboo native to China and ****** and naturalised elsewhere. The e****s part of the Latin name is a reference to the fact that it produces edible shoots. This bamboo can reach heights of up to 28 m (92 ft). This particular species of bamboo is the most common species used in the bamboo textile industry of China. Its physical properties boast an average breaking tenacity more than three times that of cotton, wool, rayon, or polyester.
