繁忙时间又称尖峰时间，因各行业、政府商业机构或者服务而不同。

在交通方面一般指平常日早上八时至九时，及傍晚五至七时两段时间。因该两段时间为大部份公司上下班及学校上学、放学时间，通常繁忙时间都出现交通挤塞问题，故部分公司采用弹性上班时间去解决问题。大众运输工具也会在繁忙时间加开班次疏运旅客，有些城市会对于进城的交通量相差较大的道路实施调拨车道，甚至课征进城税、限制单双号车牌等措施以纾解车流量。中长途交通运输的繁忙时间则通常在假期前一天傍晚起到假期最后一天的晚上。

对餐饮业而言，早餐的繁忙时间为早上六时至八时，午饭的繁忙时间为十二时至二时，而晚餐的繁忙时间则由傍晚五时开始。对于休闲设施如电影院、儿童乐园、风景区等地方，繁忙时间往往落在假日。金融机构通常在每月月初与月底为繁忙时间。互联网与电话的繁忙时间则随区域而不同，在商业区通常白天上班时段的网络流量较高，但在住宅区则是晚上到午夜的网络流量较高。

A rush hour (American English) or peak hour (British English) is a part of the day during which traffic congestion on roads and crowding on public transport is at its highest. Normally, this happens twice every weekday—once in the morning and once in the afternoon-evening, the times during when the most people commute. The term is often used for a period of peak congestion that may last for more than one hour.
