美洲红点鲑，为辐鳍鱼纲鲑形目鲑科的其中一种，为温带淡水鱼，被IUCN列为易危保育类动物，分布于北美洲加拿大纽芬兰、哈德逊湾至五大湖、密西西比河流域，并引进其他温带地区，本鱼通常背部及背鳍为大理石绿色，具有虫纹及镶蓝边的红色斑点，体侧颜色较淡具有灰白色斑点，鱼鳍淡红色，其中臀鳍、腹鳍、胸鳍有一条黑斑纹及白色的前缘，体长可达86公分，栖息在水质清澈、冰冷且溶氧量高的溪流、湖泊底中层水域，会进行季节性洄游，春季时会游至河口、沿海地区，以软件动物、甲壳类、昆虫、鱼类等为食，可做为食用鱼，适合各种烹饪方式食用，另可做为观赏鱼及游钓鱼。

The brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) is a species of freshwater fish in the salmon family Salmonidae. It is native to Eastern North America in the United States and Canada, but has also been artificially introduced elsewhere in North America and to other continents. In parts of its range, it is also known as the eastern brook trout, speckled trout, brook charr, squaretail, or mud trout, among others. A potamodromous population in Lake Superior is known as coaster trout or, simply, as coasters. The brook trout is the state fish of nine states: Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.
