    沃尔特·雷利爵士（Sir Walter Raleigh，1552年－1618年10月29日），英国伊莉莎白时代著名的冒险家。同时也是位作家、诗人、军人、政治家，更以艺术、文化及科学研究的保护者闻名。他和埃德蒙．斯宾塞(诗人，着有叙事诗《仙后》The Faerie Queene)及克里斯多福·马罗(戏剧《帖木儿大帝》(Tamburlaine the Great)的作者)等文学家来往甚密，本身在伦敦塔幽禁期间也编纂了《世界史》(The Historie of the World)一书，是名广泛阅读文学、历史、航海术、数学、天文学、化学、植物学等著作的知识分子，更是名外貌英俊的男子。

   Sir Walter Raleigh (/ˈrɔːli/, /ˈræli/, or /ˈrɑːli/; circa 1554 –29 October 1618) was an English landed gentleman, writer, poet, soldier, politician, courtier, spy, and explorer. He was cousin to Sir Richard Grenville and younger half-brother of Sir Humphrey Gilbert. He is also well known for popularising tobacco in England. |
