蓝鳍金枪鱼为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目鲭亚目鲭科的其中一种，被IUCN列为极危保育类动物，分布于全球各大洋热带至温带海域，栖息深度50-2473公尺，体长可达245公分，为大洋性洄游性鱼类，成群活动，属肉食性，以鱼类、头足类、甲壳类为食，可做为食用鱼、游钓鱼及养殖鱼类。

Southern bluefin tuna 蓝鳍金枪鱼
The southern bluefin tuna, Thunnus maccoyii, is a tuna of the family Scombridae found in open southern Hemisphere waters of all the world's oceans mainly between 30°S and 50°S, to nearly 60°S.
At up to 2.5 metres (8.2 ft) and weighing up to 260 kilograms (570 lb), it is among the larger bony fishes.
