树穿山甲

树穿山甲（Manis tricuspis），又名鳞片白腹穿山甲，是8种现存的穿山甲之一，生活在次生林中。树穿山甲是非洲的原住民，分布自塞内加尔至西肯雅及非洲南部至赞比亚。

一般的穿山甲都会在牠们挖空了的蚂蚁或白蚁丘上筑巢，但树穿山甲则栖息在树上。牠们会在树枝叉或植物上卷曲睡觉。

雌性树穿山甲是独自生活的，其领土细小，只有少于10公顷，雌性之间的领土很少重叠。雄性的领土较大，可达60公顷，会与雌性的领土重叠，造成与雌性接触的机会。除了在生殖季节外，雄性与雌性接触的时间很短。当雄性与雌性在生殖季节相遇时，就会交配。幼兽的妊娠期为150日，每胎一般只有一头幼兽。幼兽会靠在母亲的尾巴，直至3个月后断奶，其后5个月仍会与母亲同住。初出生的树穿山甲鳞片很软，经过几日后会开始硬化。在饲养的树穿山甲中就有领养幼兽的情况。
