在物理学里，作用量（英语：action）是一个很特别、很抽象的物理量。它表示着一个动力物理系统内在的演化趋向。虽然与微分方程序方法大不相同，作用量也可以被用来分析物理系统的运动，所得到的答案是相同的。只需要设置系统在两个点的状态，初始状态与最终状态，然后，经过求解作用量的平稳值，就可以得到系统在两个点之间每个点的状态。

It is a mathematical functional which takes the trajectory, also called path or history, of the system as its argument and has a real number as its result.
